"I sometimes think that the act of bringing food is one of the basic roots of all relationships."
Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama
The right meal nourishes much more than the body. It beckons us to slow down, to indulge in our senses, and provides an opportunity to connect with others. Sharing a meal brings us together through hospitality and expressions of friendship. In many ways, the essence of who we are can be revealed by the way we incorporate food into our lives; what we eat, how it is prepared, whom we share our meals with, which traditions or habits we choose to keep or break. There is an innate human attachment to food that bonds us all. Truly, we are what we eat.
